Self-Care
Self-care is about creating a balance between work, life, partying, family and friends. All of these things are important in life and sometimes we forget to make time for all them. This can lead to feelings of being overwhelmed, stress, fatigue and poor mental health. Healing Hearts offers a 2 hour Self-Care workshop for young people that is informative, fun and engaging. It includes information about:
a balance in life
stress management techniques
the importance of hobbies and recreational activities
the importance of making time for friends and family
the importance of planning
Bullying and Harassment
Bullying and harassment are unfortunately a part of life. Many people face bullies at school, in the workplace, amongst their friends, in their relationships and in the family. Healing Hearts offers a 2 hour Bullying and Harassment workshop that provides people with information to understand and identify bullying behaviour and strategies to deal with bullying and harassment.
Bullying and Social Media
With the introduction of social media, bullying has become a big issue for young people. It has meant that there is sometimes no escape from bullies as they follow you home through social media and this creates greater isolation as young people are forced to delete accounts to avoid bullying.
Healing Hearts offers a 2 hour bullying workshop that helps young people build resilience against bullying and learn to manage the issue associated with same. This workshop includes the following:

What can you do if you are being bullied?
How to keep yourself safe
How to move forward and away from bullies
How to support and help friends who are being bullied

Stress Management
Stress is a normal and expected part of life. It can challenge us to strive harder and improve ourselves, or it can adversely affect our mental health and well-being. Healing Hearts has developed a 2 hour workshop that aims to create an awareness and understanding of stress, how to identify it and how to combat it.
Sexual Health
Sexual health is important for anyone who is sexually active or thinking about becoming sexually active. Healing Hearts has a fun, interactive and educational 2 hour workshop that:
highlights the importance of sexual health
stresses the importance of keeping safe and discusses how to do it
discusses how easy it is to obtain a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI)
talks about relationships and sexual harassment
highlights and explores what to is acceptable and what is unacceptable behaviour between partners when engaging in sexual activity
Life Story
Life Story Work is important for young people in care. With a background of experience rooted in OOHC and residential services, the staff of Healing Hearts
have a great depth of experience in Life Story Work and how to work
through Life Story Books with young people. Who Am I? is the first stop in the Life Story journey and Healing Hearts offers a 2 hour workshop to guide young people in care through the first stage of Life Story Work. Re-Navigating Anger and Guilty Emotions (RAGE)
RAGE is a 6 week programme, made up of 6, 1 hour workshops each week and is a strengths based solution focused program that is hands on, practical and also fun for young people. The programme is aimed at supporting young people to manage negative emotions more effectively, thereby reducing challenging physical and verbal behaviours. It covers topics such as:
The many faces of anger and the 4T’s anger cycle
Healthy expressions of anger
How guilt is an important part of the anger cycle and ways to deal with guilt
The importance of relaxation, exercise and diet

ACTIV8
ACTIV8 is a 6-7 week programme, made up of 6-7, 2 hour workshops and aims to address young people's self esteem and behaviour through building assertiveness and exploring ways to make positive choices. It can also be delivered over 2 days. The programme uses a strength based model incorporating peer learning and some elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Objectives of the Activ8 program are:
Participants attending the group program will have the opportunity to reflect on their behaviour style and to develop skills in becoming assertive.
Participants will be inspired to make positive changes in their lives.
Participants will have the opportunity to gain support from other students (their peers) in developing assertiveness.
Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their self esteem and learn ways to build their self esteem.
Participants will gain an awareness of strategies that they can use to make healthy and safe decisions.
Participants will learn how to set goals and achieve them

Managing the Bull (MTB)
MTB is a 6 week programme, made up of 6, 1 hour workshops and aims to empower young with skills to manage bullies at school. The programme targets young people aged 12-17 years with the intent to develop social resilience. Topics covered include:
profiling the bully
strengths and self-esteem
communication skills
building support networks
cyber-bullying
creating a personal protection plan.
